Background of MIM
Metal Powder Injection Molding (MIM) was developed from 1973 by Mr. Weich and his colleagues of Parmatech. MIM technology is well suited for the manufacture of relatively small, complex components requiring high strength and cost viability. MIM technology takes advantage of unique process capabilities, such as combining components into one complex geometry or co-molding and bonding dissimilar materials. MIM is not arrestive at all at the beginning. Since 1979,Their product which was made by MIM technology won 2 design awards at International powder metallurgy convention, this technology is regarded highly. At the beginning of 1980, many Europe countries and Japan devote to R & D on MIM and generalize it rapidly. Specially in the middle of 1980, MIM was advanced much more rapidly since its industrialization, and developed at egregious speed every year. Until this time, more than 300 companies from over 10 countries and areas are engaged on MIM product research, development and sales. Japan is so active and more than 40 companies specialize on MIM. Its sales turnover already exceeded Europe's and very close with USA? From 1990, some companies and persons in China began to engage on MIM. Until this time, the industrialization of MIM in China is slow than it should be, only 3 or 4 considerable companies work on it.
